Nine Enneagram Personalities Who Need a Will

Josh Smith Jul 13, 2021

When it comes to Enneagrams either you love them or hate them. We love them because they really help explain our different motives, thoughts, and emotions that make us separate from one another...but we hate them because it labels us and categorizes us into only 9 different personality types (right, enneagram 4?). Well, as an enneagram 6, I’m here to make sure all of you are prepared and taken care of when it comes to thinking about your future! I’ve broken down each enneagram and have explained the thoughts and feelings each enneagram personality would likely feel when thinking about a Will or creating one. So whether you’re pro enneagram or not, can we all at least agree that Wills are important? Good!

Now let’s get started!

The Rational, Idealistic Type: Principled, Purposeful, Self-Controlled, and Perfectionistic

You’ve more than likely already figured out which of your kids (that you don’t have yet), get what when you pass. Furthermore, you’ve already decided between you and your spouse (that you may or may not have married yet), whose family will keep the kids should you both pass in a completely orchestrated and unplanned car wreck. The reality is you have everything already prepared. Epic Will is perfect for you because it’s a quick and easy way to get all of those documents you already have saved in your Will in under 5 minutes.

The Caring, Interpersonal Type: Demonstrative, Generous, People-Pleasing, and Possessive

Your motive for creating a Will is not to have your voice be heard or to have control over what happens when you die. Your motive is to make sure everyone you love is taken care of, even after you’re gone. You care that your best friend is gifted with your purse you know she loves, or that your loved ones aren’t scrambling to figure out what to do when you unexpectedly die or aren’t left with ANY sort of burdens. You’ve carefully thought out every last detail of your Will knowing that you’re doing it to help others.

The Success-Oriented, Pragmatic Type: Adaptive, Excelling, Driven, and Image-Conscious

You mean you DON’T have a Will! Yet? Or Advance Directive!? Or Powers of Attorney!? Every achiever/performer has already done this! And if you don’t, then you’re behind the curve! Get your Will done now! Furthermore, if you’re young in your career and don’t have the millions of stardom you’ve sought…then get a term life insurance policy. After you die, you’ll be able to leave millions (or hundreds of thousands) to your people!

The Sensitive, Withdrawn Type: Expressive, Dramatic, Self-Absorbed, and Temperamental

There is no other way you could be more unique or an individual than being unique and individual in your estate planning docs! It's really an opportunity for you to leave a legacy of how unique YOU really are! You’re not creating a Will because everyone is doing it, you’re creating a Will because you value that your unique voice is being heard and that no one else has control over what happens to your health, your finances, or your things. This is your chance to be explicit with what you want when setting up your Last Will, Your Advance Directive, and Powers of Attorney!

The Intense, Cerebral Type: Perceptive, Innovative, Secretive, and Isolated

68% of Americans don’t have a Will. Go ahead and google it! In fact, we challenge you to dive into the analytical and statistical data as it relates to the number of people who currently don’t (but should) have a Will or their estate planning documents. Furthermore, you of all people will know how important it is to make sure that you – YOURSELF – are able to make all your final decisions before you die or become incapacitated. Mainly because you’ve already investigated all the pros and cons that come with each situation and scenario. So now, do one last investigation…see if it really takes just five minutes to complete your Will!

The Committed, Security-Oriented Type: Engaging, Responsible, Anxious, and Suspicious

You want to be committed to your friends and family and want to make sure they are completely taken care of when you’re no longer there. You are more than open to the idea of getting your Will and other estate planning docs taken care of. But there’s a catch. You’re suspicious of getting it done online...especially in five minutes. That’s fine. We hear you. If you need to talk it out, go see an attorney. We’re not giving you advice here. That’s not what this site is about. Epic Will is about providing you a place to get everything taken care of IF it works for you—cost-efficiently and quickly. You’re loyal to the core, but you’re skeptical of what we do. All good. Start preparing yourself in the meantime, talk it out, schedule an appointment with an attorney who can give you real legal advice, and make the decision that’s best for you.

The Busy, Fun-Loving Type: Spontaneous, Versatile, Distractible, and Scattered

You will more than likely NOT get this done in one sitting–if at all. Besides, life’s too short to be thinking about end-of-life planning! Right?... That is a straight-up contradiction! You need to get this done almost more than anyone else, because...SQUIRREL!! What were we saying? Oh yeah, WHEN you finally sit your butt down and take the five minutes this needs, you’ll also be the biggest enthusiast. The reality is this truly does free you up to live...knowing that you made the mature decision to cover all your bases ahead of time so that you can be as free-spirited and spontaneous as you want to be, without ever having to think about it again.

The Powerful, Dominating Type: Self-Confident, Decisive, Willful, and Confrontational

This was made for you! You will knock out your Will decisively in less than five minutes. You’ve already thought through and considered who’s doing what...and more than likely it’s YOU, even after your incapacitated. Because you’re a powerful challenger to the core, and while you won’t be able to physically say anything to the doctor, your brain is going to be screaming directions and orders and challenging any call you think is not correct...even though you know nothing about medicine. Bottom line, take some time, put your domineering ego aside, and make a call about who is going to speak on your behalf when you can’t speak for yourself.  BUT...take comfort in knowing your wishes will be carried out just as you want them to!

The Easygoing, Self-Effacing Type: Receptive, Reassuring, Agreeable, and Complacent

Bless your heart. This process is going to be difficult for you because you are going to get into the mental battle of, “I really want Sally and Sam to take care of the children, but how is that going to make Molly and John feel?!  Oh, I don’t know that I can do this!!” In the words of the great philosopher Shia LaBeouf  “DO IT!!!”  Download our guide for the information you need to start thinking about, and make the decisions you want, not what you feel anyone else would want you to do! Seriously...complacency will kill you when you’re incapacitated, so take the time, make the call and get this done! And if you’re ever having second thoughts, feel comforted in knowing that you can always change your Will down the road.
